Dylan “Deelambs” Callahan (formerly known as Son III) and Jordan “Sarky” Brizendine (formerly known as David Sarkozy) are two important figures in Delveran history and in current affairs of the Grand Republic. It is important to note the distinction between these two individuals, not only because they are consistently confused with one another in the MicroWiki community, but also because they are indeed very different people. I should know, as I am one of them, but not the other. I do hope that this piece will help to clear up the confusion once and for all.
Dylan Callahan was born in 1991 in the US state of Illinois, the fourth of five children, after which he moved quite frequently with his family until they eventually settled down in the state of Kansas. Callahan was homeschooled and did not attend a higher education institution, instead moving straight into the workforce. In April 2008, he founded NottaLotta Acres, where he served as the Secretary Secretariat and Adjutant General of the NottaLottan Armed Forces. His younger brother, Maverick, with whom he has also been confused (though MicroWikians get a break since even those who personally know the brothers have been known to confuse them), served as Chancellor of NLA. Dylan formed the Allied Carolinian Coalition in 2010 to support the Carolinian rebels in the Austenasian Civil War, also joining the Aegis Alliance. After these brief forays into interventionism, NLA slowly receded from the community, founding the NottaLottan Empire with Salania in 2011.
I (Jordan Brizendine) was born in 1995 in the US state of Missouri, where I have lived my entire life. I am the first of three children. I attended public school and graduated with honors from Missouri State University, receiving a Bachelor of General Studies degree in History and Mandarin Chinese in 2017. In July 2008, I founded the Republic of Salania, which later became the Holy Salanian Empire in July 2010. It was at this time that I first became involved in the MicroWiki community, working with the Republic of Atlantis and becoming embroiled in the Atlantis Civil War among other travesties. These issues, as well as the perceived toxicity and hostility of the community toward my personal political standpoint at the time led me to leave the community in May 2011. Later that year, in July, Salania voluntarily became a subject of the NottaLottan Empire.
Up to this point, Dylan and I had been the leaders of completely separate, unrelated micronations. That changed in the summer of 2011, when we became friends and began talking extensively online. At that point, I was ready to relinquish many of the affairs of state to another, so we worked out a treaty to that effect, and the Commonwealth of Lavrasia was born. Mid-2011 through early 2013 was a great time for me micronationally. Though the Empire was relatively isolated from the micronational community, we made real progress in Lavrasia, largely in establishing the military that would later become the DAS. This was made possible by financial support from Dylan, and I actually met him in person twice during this time. However, the congenial relationship turned sour in February 2013 after a misunderstanding led to an argument between us that caused us to break off communication with one another for about 18 months. During this time, I worked with other Lavrasians (most notably Casey Pemberton, also known as Nikias Wernher) to form the Grand Republic of Delvera, which secretly seceded from the NottaLottan Empire in May 2013.
In July 2014, when I finally told Dylan of Delvera’s formation, he politely wished us well, and we began to renew our friendship. By mid-2015, after I had enacted several programs to improve Delvera, which included joining the MicroWiki community and founding the Lavrada Bannerman, Dylan asked to become a Delveran citizen. In December, he founded the Military District of Neosho. In early 2016, Dylan became active in the Delveran government (serving as Minister of State, then Minister of Commerce), where he introduced his own set of economic and activity reforms, known as the Callahan Plan. He was instrumental in Casey Pemberton’s successful 2016 Consular Election campaign, in which Pemberton defeated me thanks to Dylan’s campaign management. Dylan was likewise crucial to the ending of the activity crisis in summer 2016, which he helped resolve through leadership of Operation Vicuna, the enactment of several reforms (such as the privatization of the Bannerman), and the incorporation of Neosho as a province. Operations Genesis and Exodus would not have been possible without Dylan’s work, nor would the establishment of the Confederal Bank system, the Tax and Postage system, the organization of the Congress of Colo, and too many other projects to list here. I believe it is only right that he won the Consulship earlier this year, after all of his hard work.
I, on the other hand, served as Consul from 2013 to 2016, when I was defeated by Pemberton. I authored most of Delvera’s founding documents, negotiated an end to the 2015 Land Claims Crisis with the NAC, founded the Lavrada Bannerman, and created all of the Lavrasian and Delveran military videos to date, among other achievements. After my electoral defeat, I served as President and Minister of State until I resigned from the latter post early this year. I did not seek re-election, choosing to instead serve as Dylan’s Minister of the Interior, where I have worked on conducting a census and a geographic survey. I also continue to operate the Bannerman, though as a private business (since mid-2016) rather than the state news service it started out as and is often still perceived to be.
On the personal side, Dylan is married to Hannah Callahan, who also actively serves in the Delveran government as Secretary of State Media and the Deputy of Neosho. She is also employed by the Bannerman. They live in Kansas, where they have two children. Dylan has been a plastic extruder, a service representative, and an entrepreneur.
I am not married, though I am currently in a relationship with someone unaffiliated with micronationalism. I am writing this in Shenzhen, China, where I have been living for the past six weeks. I previously lived in Qingdao, China for a year (2014-2015) during a study away program. I have been a camp counselor, a sales associate, and an English teacher.
I shall conclude this article with a gallery of photos of Dylan and myself. I understand why it could be easy to confuse us, considering our shared history and the fact that many micronations have a single political figure and MicroWiki has a history of sockpuppeteers, but I hope that this article can finally lay to rest the notion that we are the same person.
